Guidelines:
To achieve the best possible result when PavePads are used we provide you with guidelines and technical tips. As an example we have used the roof terrace on top of the old rectory, Aargab, in Hvide Sande, Denmark. The project can also be found in the reference section. Excellent Systems A/S were in charge of the entire installation and laying tiles.
1) Find the right starting point.
In order to build the pavement absolutely right it is important that you find the right starting point. Begin at the most important door, as shown in the pictures to the right. Start off by stacking four towers of PavePads for the first tile. When the tile has been laid and the right height has been found you will have the exit point for the first row of tiles, and avoid difficult calculations.

2) Use a spirit level and stack PavePads as needed.
If you have laid the first tile in accordance to the description above, you can now proceed by laying tiles using a spirit level. We recommend that you, if possible, lay the first row of tiles in the same direction as the slope of the substrate, again with the main door as your fixation point. By using a spirit level to get the pavement completely level, you ensure that the final result will be both comfortable and pretty.

3) Expand with one row at a time.
When you have laid the first row of tiles you now have the fixation point for the whole terrace or pavement. Expand sideways by one row at a time and expand from the first row and out as shown in the pictures to the right.

4) Cut and adapt PavePads.
Every single element in the PavePad range can be broken manually into halves and quarts. For more specific adaptations, cut the PavePad with a grinder, a jigsaw or garden scissors. In corners use quarter-PavePads, on endings use halves. That way, when the system is used correctly, each tile will be supported by a quarter-PavePad in each corner. Read more on this in the section on technical tips and informations.

6) …and the final result.
Below is a series of pictures showing the final result. A good looking, uniform paving surface which is stable and does not require maintenance. Using PavePads you will end up with a precise leveling, and optimal draining of the paving surface since there will, due to the structure of the PavePads, be a natural space between the tiles that is also uniform throughout the entire paving surface. Also when using PavePads you ensure fast and easy maintaining of substrates such as roof membranes.
